Activities

Students of Department of Statistics also participated in extra curricular activities whole heartedly both within and outside the department. The students besides conducting various activities in the Department brought out Souvenir on several occasions. The Departmental Hockey team won the Inter departmental title for several years. Students also participated in Poster and other Competitions conducted within the University.

Publications

Publication committee of Actuarial Sciences & Risk Management students having successful publication of “Actuarial Times”, which was launched by Prof. Dr. Pirzada Qasim, Vice Chancellor of University of Karachi on 7th April 2007 in Department of Statistics. It contain exclusive messages, interviews, article of experts, student’s articles, market briefs, Press releases, and reporting of events.

After the regular publication of “Actuarial Times”, Publication Committee of Actuarial Students published “Graduate Directory 2007”, It has a great exposure for the corporate sector to pick up the graduates of Actuarial Sciences & Risk Management. This directory contain profiles of graduate students, exclusive messages and course details. Now, we move forward to publish “Graduate Directory 2009” for 3rd batch who will passed out in December 2009

These publications can not be exist with out the financial support of EFU General Insurance, AKD Investment Management, EFU Life, New Jubilee Insurance, State Life, UBL Insurers, Adamjee Insurance, NJI Life, PICIC Insurance, and Unilever.

We received feedbacks, suggestions and good response from insurance sector, banking sector, asset management firms and Actuarial firms on our publications. Now onwards our publications will also be distributed on international level universities where Actuarial programs are conducted and all societies and institute of Actuaries to increase the understanding between KU and foreign universities. It will soon be available on the website.

Seminars, Lectures & workshops

In order to maintain the standard of education, extension lectures & seminars are regularly held in which eminent speakers and professionals are invited and various current and related topics are deliberated.
